A Visit from Uncle Ed; July 2017

In the Spring of 2017, Mark's Uncle Ed Gut asked if he could spend a few days with the Utah Astlings along his road trip from Chicago to Washington to Utah to Colorado to Nebraska (?) back to Chicago.  Of course we said yes!  Uncle Ed stayed with Granna, though she was willing to share him with us for a Famous Dave's dinner, a dinner at our house and a trip to Antelope Island.

We were fascinated with these spiders and their many webs at the Antelope Island visitor center.

From the visitor center we drove to the Fielding Garr Ranch and learned about sheep shearing, herding and all sorts of ranch activities.

This was one of the first mobile homes that looked to be on the back of a wagon, that provided shelter for the shepherds in the winter.

Oh and there's Uncle Ed!  We happened to come on a day where there were pioneer/settler activities available.  Granna spent most of her time talking with the spinning lady, who was happy to have someone to talk to and especially someone who knew about wool and yarn!

The boys worked for a while on operating stilts.  It's not as easy as it looks!

On our way out we were able to get some close ups on bison.  Here's a close-up of Uncle Ed getting a close-up of bison.  We had a great time with Uncle Ed and Granna!
