Pre-Christmas Celebration 2016

Christmas was a little different this year.  For our family gift, we decided to go somewhere for Christmas instead of the traditional Christmas at home.  But we still had somewhat normal Christmas precursors.

This is the last elementary school Christmas concert for the Astling family.  I don't know if James can contain the excitement.  He was a dutiful 6th grader and joined his voice with 80 something 6th graders to celebrate the holiday.

The Wheeler side of the family has established a Christmas tradition called the Kris Kringle Mingle, which occurs a few weeks before Christmas at a midway point between Logandale and Salt Lake.  Since most families like to be in their own homes for Christmas day, we do a family party before Christmas and we always have a theme.  This year the theme was Grinchmas, complete with Who-bingo, a reader's theater of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and our very own sleigh (van) sliding off of I-15 just before reaching St. George at 11 pm the night before. Not much damage done, but after a couple of people stopped to help tow us out and not finding tow points in the van, we deemed it necessary to call a tow truck.  When the tow truck came the driver's side hind wheel had mud in-between the rim and the tire, enough that we didn't feel steady driving it, we all scrunched in the tow truck for a cozy adventure to St. George.  Glad we had a party to go to though to lighten our spirits!

Spencer made the mistake of challenging Uncle Jed to a wrestling match. It didn't last long.

All the Cousins are pictured here except Dujan, who we Skyped with.
