Destination Wedding: Cabo San Lucas

While living and working in Cabo San Lucas, my youngest brother Jesse met a wonderful woman named Dulce, who is as sweet as her name.  After dating off and on for a while, he decided that he just couldn't live without her and asked her to be his wife - and she said YES!  They began planning almost a year in advance and set the final date for October 14, 2016.  We were so excited to go celebrate!

Dulce has a 7 year old son named Dujan and we wanted to welcome him to the cousin crew, so we sent a hello message to him.

Even though it was fall, we couldn't resist taking a picture with Springtime colors with Wendy and Jesse!

Jesse gave us a golf cart tour of the course he worked at, El Dorado, which was just beautiful and right on the ocean.

One of our favorite things to do at the golf course was to visit the "comfort stations," which were stocked with all sorts of food.  This station was by the kid activities and contained an ice cream machine, a variety of candies and other delights.  Other comfort stations had hot dogs, a salad bar and many other options. We tried to be discreet about our comfort station visits and keep them to a minimum, whatever minimum is.

We were told not to go swimming in the ocean. As blue and inviting as it was, the waves were much too violent to even consider it.  Still, it was beautiful to wake up to, listen to and walk beside.

The night before the wedding, family and friends were invited to go on a sunset dinner cruise along the coast.   It was fun to meet Jesse's friends and Dulce's family and enjoy the ocean breeze.

The happy and beautiful couple!

Although we love getting together with all of our kids, it was quite fun to spend time together with just the adults.

Dad is trying to strike a GQ pose in his blue shirt.  He must have missed the memo that we were supposed to wear white. Or he wanted to blend in with the ocean.

A picture with just the women!
And just the men!

If Jesse was not wearing glasses, you would see that he looks just like Dad.  Their likeness is even more noticeable if you look at a picture of Dad's younger years.

So glad to have a two new additions to our family!

And just the Wheeler girls.

After a very relaxing cruise on the ocean, we said good bye to our ride.

The wedding was held at Flora Farms, an organic, farm to table venue with restaurant, cottages and shops, and where Dulce was employed.  It was beautiful, delicious and fun!
Dad was asked to officiate and did a wonderful job communicating the importance and deep meaning of being wed.

We were so happy to meet Jesse's groomsmen, who have been such good friends to him.  We had a great time with them on the cruise and at the wedding.

Beautiful Dulce and her father walking her to her future husband.

They exchanged wonderful vows with each other, which brought tears to our eyes.

All the siblings together!

Ryan, Wendy, Jed and Joshlyn before the delicious meal - which I did not get a picture of, but can vividly remember the corn on the cob with a heavenly mixture of creamy, buttery, cheesy herb rub.

My love.

Jesse and Dulce sat at the head table surrounded by their friends and family on long table to the left and right of them and at the opposite end.  We sat under a canopy of lights and listened to music and the happy chatter of guests.

When the sun went down, the party commenced and there was dancing all around! I even danced, which was amazing because I don't think I've danced since high school days and I probably looked just as silly as I did back then. But it was fun.  We were even treated to a surprise mariachi band, which was a gift from Dulce's dad. It was a great day and a wonderful celebration of a happy new couple!

The following day we did more playing on the golf course, first at the children's area of course. We just sat around talking and playing hoola-hoop, basketball, ping pong and butterfly watching.

The last morning there, Mark and I made breakfast for everyone from our very, very well stocked villa, owned by one of Jesse's friends and stocked by a wonderful angel named Noelia.  We felt very, very spoiled! We discovered a juicer, which I was anxious to try (with wonderful results - fresh apple juice!) and we made waffles and bacon.

This view is from the kitchen of our villa which opened up to a view of the ocean.  We each had our own rooms and bathrooms, all with beautiful views.  I loved waking up in the morning and doing a little yoga on the balcony, or reading a book to the sound of the ocean.  We really were spoiled!

While in Cabo we ate well and discovered that we took almost as many pictures of the food we ate than the ocean we were by!
While eating lunch, I couldn't resist taking a picture of this man selling hats and jewelry because I've read the book "Caps for Sale" more times than I can count to my boys.

Mark won the most delicious choice with tartar at that restaurant.

And the churros dipped in chocolate sauce was good enough to eat with a spoon after dipping.

Our last night we ventured to the marina area and had a wonderful dinner by the harbor.

Matt wasn't able to come so Loni found a handsome, quiet stranger.

Sometimes I behave well enough to have wings, but not yet a halo.

I couldn't resist a picture of a Shakespearean Han and Leia.
More delicious food.

This was my favorite.  A stuffed poblano with cream sauce and pomegranate seeds.  MMMM!

Dulce's mom was so kind to give the cousins a spanish Bingo game with other sweets from Mexico.

We had a wonderful, fun and relaxing time in Cabo and were so glad to welcome Dulce and Dujan to the family!
