Day 3 began in Luxembourg. We were excited to be in one of the smallest countries in the world. After a little trouble sleeping, we awoke to a breakfast buffet including delicious croissants, baked beans, cheeses, meats, pickles, yogurts and such. The kids were happy to see cereal, though there was nothing sugar-coated. Thank goodness there was hot chocolate every where we went! Our rooms had these bottles of water available, but Spencer and James thought they were tequila.
After Mark downed the whole bottle, they were both speechless! After a good laugh, we showed them the bottle and assured them it was water. The kids were happy to be in a hotel with a swimming pool (which confirms it doesn't matter where we go, as long as there is a swimming pool the boys will be happy) so we spent a quick 45 minutes swimming in a chilly pool, then we headed out to Belgium.
On our way out of the city, the rain stopped just long enough for us to walk around a bit on the casemates in the city which consisted of walls and tunnels throughout for defense. It was amazing to stand on something that was built or fortified in 963 A.D.!

As we were driving out of Luxenbourg, James noticed there were a lot of smart cars and said, "there are a lot of smart cars here, it's like smart cartopia."
The ride to Belgium was a beautiful one, with a lot of farm land. We ran into a bit of trouble with using our credit card at a gas station (if you go to Europe make sure you have a card with a chip on it and know your pin number) and ran into traffic because that day was the beginning of summer vacation, we were told later. When we arrived at Lieve's parents house, they welcomed us warmly and showed us to Dieterich's old apartment. We were so grateful to be able to use the apartment and it was just perfect for us. We tried to go to a store to buy food, but they would not take credit cards, so we went to another store, making us a little late for the family dinner.
The rehearsal dinner was just wonderful! Lieve's parents are so kind, as well as all of her other friends and family members. All were very kind and genuine, we had great conversation with guests, most were new faces, but a few we had met in Moab. A cousin (or maybe mother's cousin?) arranged much of the delicious BBQ and accompanying food, she and her husband did a wonderful job, and I just couldn't resist those wonderful sausages! Before the night was over, we received a few jobs in preparation for the wedding and reception the next day and we were off for a good night's sleep!
